Monday, September 1st, 2031: Desmond Martin took a much-deserved turn in the spotlight earlier today as he accepted the National League Pitcher of the Month award for August.
The 23-year-old Lynx starter is a relative newcomer to the league, but nonetheless racked up an impressive 5-0 won-lost record in 6 starts. This month he fanned 32 batters in 41.2 innings and compiled a 1.51 ERA.
This year Martin has worked 133.1 innings with 120 strikeouts en route to a 9-10 record and 5.47 ERA. |
 | August's Best Hurler in AL Is Ledezma
Monday, September 1st, 2031: "The kid had it all working last month," a veteran teammate told reporters. "He keeps up those kind of numbers, we may have to start inviting him out with us after the games."
Enrico Ledezma put together a very solid month to take home the American League's top pitching honor in August.
The 18-year-old reliever threw like a veteran. In 15 relief appearances he raked in 10 saves and 20 strikeouts in 17 innings as he put together his 3-0 record and 0.53 ERA.
This year Ledezma has earned 12 saves, made 18 relief appearances, fanned 23 hitters in 19.1 innings and posted an ERA of 1.40 and a 3-0 record. |

Monday, September 1st, 2031: Shane Rideout has a lot going for him. The Fresno center fielder just broke into the majors this year and now the National League has just picked him as its top hitter for August.
In 27 games last month, this outstanding rookie batted .440 with 15 home runs, 52 RBIs and 33 runs scored.
So far this season Rideout is hitting .351 with 39 home runs. |
