 | Monday, September 10th, 2029: Herbert Blisters Tampa Bay History in the making. That's what the fans at Network Associates Coliseum got to see today, when Oakland outplayed the Devil Rays 15-9. Pete Herbert of the Athletics came to the plate 5 times and came away with a dynamite day as he exploded for 5 hits against Tampa Bay. In the postgame press conference the Tampa Bay skipper quipped to reporters, "Hey, we tried to get him out. We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the kitchen sink." P. Herbert hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 8th. Herbert is hitting .335 this season with 10 home runs, 71 RBIs and 69 runs scored. He has 164 hits in 489 at-bats. |
