Stars and Stripes News Article | | | Tuesday, September 4th, 2029: Rodríguez Has Hot Hand, Bangs 5 hits "It was like I was hitting little league pitching again," said Pedro Rodríguez after his 5-hit performanace against the Rangers. "No offense meant to Texas, but I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Citgo Field. I'm just not too happy that we lost 9-8."
The Tampa Bay catcher had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 5 at-bats.
His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Pedro worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."
"That's what I'm trying to do," Rodríguez said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it. It sure did work today."
P. Rodríguez hit a two-run home run off L. Salas in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off H. Nakamura in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season-to-date Rodríguez has 34 home runs and a .346 batting average. | |
