After an inconspicuous 2025 finishing 3rd in the division (despite improving their record from 93-69 in 2023 to 94-68 in 2024 and 95-68 in 2025) the Brewers are determined to make their mark in the 25th anniversary season.

With no intentions of competing fiercely in free agency, Milwaukee look set to enter the season with a solid rotation of Guerrera, Tracey, Dominguez and Cruz (a combined 68-35 last season).  Add in Korando and Paz for the late innings and expect the Brewers to allow fewer than 750 runs in 2026.

The lineup boasts one of the more murderous middle orders going around with Hidetora, Escudero and Bautista ... 34, 42 and 55 HRs respectively.  Can the Brewers score 100 runs?  Only the World Champs San Francisco managed that in the NL last season, but that's the challenge that has been set by GM Ewin.

Expect the Brewers to push the 100 win mark ... that's the word coming from the confident front office in Milwaukee despite competing in the strongest division in baseball.

Bring on Opening Day!

           SSBL fun facts

.... Oakland A's Mike Robbins .385 batting average in 2025 is the second highest in SSBL history!

.... future Hall of Famer Reggie Maestas is 23 hits shy of 3000!

.... homerun king Dom Marks of Philadelphia is 23 homers shy of 700, and 11 rbi short of 2000!

.... if free agent Motoo Matabei steals 3 more bases he'll eclipse 700!

.... Jose Rodriguez of Texas is 7 wins away from 250!

.... Kansas City's Danny Turek is just 4 saves short of 450!

Its been 8 years since the Cubs cracked the .500 mark.  Its also been 12 seasons since the Chicago Cubs have reached the playoffs.  Both of those streaks end in 2025.

In a year dominated by offense, the Cubs claimed the division title in the toughest division in the league, the NL Central.  It was certainly unexpected, and hopefully we'll be able to make some noise in the playoffs.

This team is basically going to be unchanged next season, so the future looks pretty bright again on the North Side of Chicago.

EDIT - and just like that, we're out.

The Royals received bad news this morning. Daniel Turek the Kansas City closer is out of action. The Diagnosis: ruptured bicep tendon. He's expected to miss about 12-13 months. "I'm disappointed more than anything," he told reporters later in the day. "You can't help your team on the bench," Turek sighed. "I'll do the rehab work and hope for a quick recovery."

In 22 appearances this season has rung up  8 saves and a 3.77 ERA. He ranks #2 all-time in saves with 446; 47 behind the saves leader Jose Osuna.

Long time Mariner, Leon Delvalle, has been forced to hang up his cleats, put the batting glove in the drawer, and be prepared to pass on his baseball knowledge to others now that he has torn a mucle in his back.  "It hurt like hell," said the center fielder in a recent interview from his hospital bed, "but I didn't hink it was this bad."  Several doctors came to the conclusion that it would be inadvisable for Delvalle to continue his baseball career, at least in term of being an every day player in the field and at the plate.  "They told me this will take at least 6 to 9 months to heal, and then it will still be another couple of months before I can start really exercising to strengthen the back muscles once again.  What really bothers me about it is I was just given a nice 5 year extention to finish out my career here.  No one wants to go out like this, especially when you're just 31 years old."

GM Rory Noble added the following comment after hearing the news from the medical staff.  "This is a great loss for our team, and for the city of Seattle.  Leon has been hear through the hard times and has hit the field with the same passion and energy no matter what our record was.  And now that we seem to be turning things around, we lose skills at the plate and in the field.  To think the team has done what it has recently without Leon is wrong.  He has been an important part of this offense for a long, long time, and he will remain a part of this team as long as he wants to be here."

Delvalle finishes his career just 162 hits short of the 2000 mark.  His career batting average of .295 is 68th overall in SSBL history.  He hit 203 home runs and had 903 RBI total in his 10+ years with the Mariners.  He has hit .300 or more five times in the past ten years, with three of those years being 2022, 2023, and 2024.  He was hitting .289 this season when he was lost to this injury.

While owning a home in the Seattle area, Delvalle has said that part of his rehabilitation will be done in his homeland of the Dominican Republic.  "I think I'ld eventually like to get into managing, but right now, that's still a ways in the future," Delvalle added.  "The Mariners and I have a very good relationship, and I feel that we still have something to offer each other, at least for a few more years."
